Brief History
Rubondo Island National Park, established in 1977, spans 456.8 km² in Lake Victoria, Tanzania. Managed by TANAPA, it’s a unique island park with introduced chimpanzees and a sanctuary for sitatunga antelopes. Its lush forests and lake views offer a serene escape for eco-tourists.
Climate and Accessibility
Accessible by boat from Mwanza (3-4 hours) or charter flights to Rubondo airstrip. The climate is humid, with temperatures of 22-28°C year-round. The wet season (November-April) brings 1,000-1,500 mm rainfall, while the dry season (June-October) is ideal for wildlife viewing.
